Being fit while pregnant
Congratulations! Since you’ve found this site, it’s obvious that you’re concerned about your fitness level and you’re either pregnant or have had children. I’m so glad you found us! You’re already on your way to a healthier, happier you! Together we can make this work!
Before you start any exercise or diet program, make sure you talk with you doctor so you can be sure you’re doing what’s best for you and baby.
Regardless of your fitness level before you were pregnant, you are able to be fit and stay fit while pregnant and long after. It’s important for you and your baby that you take better care of yourself now than you ever have before.
If you were fit before you found out you had a bundle of joy on the way, you’re way ahead of the game. It’s not difficult at all to maintain your fitness level while you’re pregnant. Make sure you do what feels right to you. Many doctors and fitness professionals will tell you that you can continue whatever exercise routine you had prior to becoming pregnant. Always listen to your body. If you feel pain, stop! I know for many of you out there, myself included, stopping is a difficult concept, but remember that your body will tell you when something is wrong. Being stubborn about this while you’re pregnant isn’t admirable, it’s dangerous. Remember, you’re not alone anymore. You have a baby onboard!
I’m sure you’ve heard it said that you should really take it easy during the first trimester of pregnancy. Again, I’ll tell you that you should always talk to your doctor first, but personally, I continued my regular workout program throughout both of my pregnancies and had two very healthy babies. I kept my doctor informed of my exercise program and he was very supportive.
Now, if you were like a lot of busy people today and didn’t have a workout program before you found out you were expecting, do not despair! You can begin a fitness routine now, have a great pregnancy, and bounce back easier afterwards. The key is to start out slow and don’t push yourself too hard.
Whatever your fitness level, you’ve come to the right place for answers concerning fitness and nutrition during and after pregnancy. If you have any questions that aren’t answered on this page, please e-mail me and I’ll help you out.
God speed on your fitness adventure! Now let’s get started!
